Frequently Asked Questions
Who is CHS?
Community Health Systems, Inc. is one of the nation’s leading operators of general acute care hospitals. The organization’s affiliates own, operate or lease 199 hospitals in 29 states with approximately 31,100 licensed beds. Affiliated hospitals are dedicated to providing quality healthcare for local residents and contribute to the economic development of their communities. Based on the unique needs of each community served, these hospitals offer a wide range of diagnostic, medical and surgical services in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Why does CHS offer a Residency Education Program?
The Residency Education Program was created to help residents with career planning. After an intense focus on the science of medicine, residents are faced with decisions about the occupation and business of medicine. Our presentations are intended to help residents with career search questions.
What is the cost?
Nothing! The service is free – even follow-up questions after the presentation.
Does the information apply only to opportunities at CHS-affiliated facilities?
No. It can be applied industry-wide, no matter the location, specialty or opportunity.
Are presentations focused on just one specialty?
No. They apply to all specialties.
How long are presentations?
It can vary according to need. Normally, presentations are set up as noon conferences when about an hour is available, and two topics can be covered during that time.
Morning and afternoon sessions may offer greater flexibility.
Are you able to provide food for attendees?
Yes. We can provide breakfast, lunch or dinner. Just let us know the number of attendees and a preferred restaurant.
Are you recruiters?
While CHS offers career opportunities and has in-house recruiters, the residency program presenters are not recruiters and do not gain anything personally from the presentations.
What if a resident/fellow is interested in a particular CHS-affiliated hospital or opportunity?
We are able to refer to the person who helps recruit for specific hospitals and/or regions. Again, the presenters do not benefit from this.
How does this benefit CHS?
We are interested in meeting residents face to face and introducing CHS as an organization they may choose for future opportunities.
