DeTar Healthcare System is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Family Medicine Physician to join a private group at Port Lavaca Clinic, located only 2 hours from Houston, TX!

Position Details:

  • New grads and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply
  • Outpatient only (all ages – no OB)
  • Practice call shared with Internists and Pediatrics
  • Anticipated call frequency: once a month and twice every other month (Peds)
  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus

DeTar Hospital Navarro, the larger of two sister hospitals totaling 330 licensed beds, serves as a regional referral center with comprehensive services. These include a 64-slice CT, DaVinci robotic equipment, and the area's first dedicated Women & Children's Center, Open Concept MRI, and Level III trauma designation.

Port Lavaca Clinic Associates is the largest clinic in the area, has been in business for more than 58 years and is a landmark within the community. Port Lavaca is a smaller community on the Gulf Coast with about 12,000 population, and the nearest larger community (Victoria) is about 25 miles north. Serving a seven county service area from its location in Victoria, DeTar Hospital Navarro is a major medical resource for its region. More than 22,500 people utilize the services of DeTar Hospital Navarro and its sister facility, DeTar Hospital North every month. 

In addition to everything expected from full-service acute care hospitals, the DeTar hospitals also provide an Emergency/Trauma Department, Urgent Care Centers, Rural Medical Clinics in surrounding communities, a Health & Wellness Center, a Senior Care Center, an Occupational Medicine Center, inpatient & outpatient rehabilitation, a Sleep Disorders Center and now the new Women & Children’s Center. DeTar Hospital Navarro is licensed for 193 inpatient beds, has a medical staff of more than 238, and is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).

DeTar Hospital Navarro was the first hospital in the Texas Crossroads to receive Level III Trauma designation. In 2010 we purchased the Da Vinci robot and completed the year with over 250 cases. In 2011 our imaging services were expanded to include the Philips 1.0 Tesla Open Concept MRI.
