Job Description
Northwest Health in Valparaiso, Indiana is seeking a Program Director for our ACGME accredited Family Medicine Program. The ideal candidate will have a passion for medical education and training residents combined with a strong focus and commitment to ensuring patient care remains a priority.
Responsibilities:- Approximately 50% administration and 50% clinical
- Must have 3+ years of academic medicine experience as a Program Director or Core Faculty
- Oversee and ensure the quality of didactic and clinical education is maintained
- Establish strategic direction of the program, its standards, quality, and reputation of the Family Medicine Residency program as followed by faculty and residents
- Residency program practice management, overall residency operations, and resident oversight
- Program recruitment, interviews, and selection of residents; six residents are welcomed per year
- Recruit and oversee faculty and clinical rotations
- Maintain ongoing clinical activity in Family Medicine, consistent with ACGME guidelines
- Teach residents through clinical and didactic work
Requirements:
- Board certified in Family Medicine
- Clinically practicing physician
- Documented educational and/or administrative experience required
- Experience in graduate medical education required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to effectively deal with a broad range of people and personalities

Northwest Health – Porter is a 200-bed acute care hospital located in Valparaiso, Indiana. Accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital offers a full continuum of services, including emergency and trauma care, cardiology, oncology, primary care, obstetrics, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care, orthopedics, spine care, and inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation. The hospital features a Women and Children’s Pavilion and a long-standing neonatal intensive care unit serving Northwest Indiana.
